Brad's Famous Stromboli

- pizza dough (store bought thawed or recipe in post for homemade)
- 1 tsp. olive oil
- ½ onion, diced
- 3-4 garlic cloves, minced
- 1 - 15 oz can tomato sauce
- 2 tbsp. tomato paste
- splash of dry red wine
- 1 tsp. dried oregano
- ½ tsp. dried basil
- ¼ tsp. dried parsley
- ½ tsp. red pepper flakes
- ½ tsp. salt
- ½ tsp. fresh ground pepper
- 2 bay leaves
- Italian seasoning
- fresh ground pepper
- ¼ lb Provolone cheese from deli
- ¼ lb pepperoni from deli
- ¼ lb salami from deli
- 2 tbsp. banana peppers, sliced small
- ½ cup fresh Parmesan
- sesame seeds
- Preheat oven to 400.
- In a medium pot over medium heat add olive oil.
- Once heated add onion and garlic and sauté for 3-5 minutes.
- Add tomato sauce, paste and wine and bring to boil stirring frequently.
- Add spices and reduce heat to simmer.
- Simmer for 30 minutes, stirring frequently. Keep warm.
- Roll out dough into oval shape.
- Season with Italian seasoning.
- Top with Provolone cheese covering entire dough.
- Add layer of pepperoni.
- Sprinkle on banana peppers.
- Add layer of salami.
- Season with pepper.
- Sprinkle on Parmesan.
- Roll up into a long thin loaf resembling a baguette careful to tuck in all sides well.
- Sprinkle with some more Parm and sesame seeds.
- Bake on a baking sheet sprayed with nonstick spray for 15-20 minutes.
- Allow to cool slightly then slice.
- Serve with marinara.
