The Pineapple Tequila Cocktail is simple but incredibly refreshing. A tropical twist on the classic margarita, each sip of this cocktail tastes like warmer days ahead.

Pineapple Tequila Cocktail

Whether you’re looking for a cocktail to kick off the weekend, sip by the pool, or serve to guests at a party, this Pineapple Tequila Cocktail has you covered. She’s tangy, sweet, and invigorating with just the right kick of tequila. Also known as a Pineapple Margarita, this boozy beverage blends citrus and sweetness perfectly. While pineapples are in season in summer, you can make this Pineapple Tequila Cocktail year-round to transport you to the beach anytime (at least in your mind 😉).

Ingredients

An easy twist on the traditional margarita, this Pineapple Tequila Cocktail only requires a handful of ingredients.

Tequila

I’d recommend using a silver or blanco tequila for this cocktail recipe. These types of tequilas aren’t aged long yielding a clean, crisp liquor. However, if you’d like to add a little smoky, spicy flavor to your Pineapple Tequila Cocktail, you might want to opt for a longer-aged tequila like reposado, añejo, and mezcal.

Pineapple Juice

The other star of this recipe is pineapple juice. Sweet, juicy, tangy, and tropical the flavor of the pineapple juice compliments the taste of tequila. Fresh is best but not required.

Cointreau

An orange citrus liqueur. Can substitute with any orange liqueur like triple sec or Grand Marnier.

Fresh Lime Juice

Can’t have a margarita (or tequila in general) without lime!

Agave Nectar

Adds additional sweetness to this Pineapple Tequila Cocktail to balance out the acidic flavors.

Pineapple Tequila Cocktail Instructions

On the Rocks Method

My preferred easy method for this recipe is on the rocks. Simply add all ingredients to a shaker. Add ice, shake well, then dump as-is into a glass (or strain into a glass with fresh ice if you prefer).

Frozen Method

To make a frozen Pineapple Margarita, simply toss all the ingredients into a blender with ice. These are especially tasty on hot summer beach or pool days.

Pitcher/Big Batch Method

If you’re hosting a party or dinner and don’t want to get stuck playing bartender, you can also serve these Pineapple Tequilas large batch. Depending on how many you’re serving triple or quadruple this recipe. Here's the drink dispensers I have.

FAQs

Can I make this Pineapple Tequila Cocktail spicy?

Definitely! I love to muddle (crush) fresh jalapeno slices into the liquid before adding ice to the shaker for spice. Adding a Tajin rim will also do the trick!

Can I make this recipe as a mocktail (without alcohol)?

In order to go for the same flavor sans the tequila, I’d recommend doubling up on your pineapple and lime juice. Add some fresh orange juice in place of the triple sec. It won’t taste exactly the same, but it will have a lot of the same elements.

Serve with...

If you're hosting a party or gathering, I recommend serving Pineapple Margaritas alongside some appetizers like Spicy Ahi Tuna Poke Nachos, Queso Blanco, and/or Loaded Bell Pepper Nachos (Sheet Pan or Air Fryer).

Dinner or date night? Serve with Chimichangas (Pan Fried, Baked, or Air Fried), Chimichurri Steak Tacos, or Fish Tacos.
