Patriotic Jello Shots

Published: Jul 1, 2016 by Laura Lee · This post may contain affiliate links · 1 Comment

4th of July has always been my favorite holiday. Well maybe tied with Christmas. But summer is a hell of a lot more fun than winter! Cookouts, pool parties, fireworks... what's not to like? These Patriotic Jello Shots are pretty awesome as well.

Make sure you plan ahead with these. They take some time since you have to wait for each layer to harden. Last year I made them the day of a 4th of July party I was attending and was frantically checking them as I was getting ready. What can I say I like to live life on the edge. 😉

Start with the blue layer. In a large bowl mix together 1 ¼ cup hot water with the 3oz of berry blue gelatin. Stir until dissolved. Add 1 cup of vodka. Pour into plastic shot glasses about ⅓ the way up. Put in fridge and chill 60-90 minutes or until firm. It's very important to make sure each layer has set before adding the next layer or else they will mix.

For the white layer mix together two envelopes of unflavored gelatin and 1 cup of hot water stirring until dissolved. Add 1 cup of vodka. Add 14 oz can of sweetened condensed milk and stir. Pour into the shot glasses over the blue layer. Now the shots should be ⅔ full. Place back in the fridge for another 60-90 minutes or until hardened.

Finishing off with the red layer, mix together 3oz of cherry gelatin with 1 ¼ cup hot water stirring until dissolved. Add 1 cup of vodka. Pour red layer over the white layer and place back in the fridge for another 60-90 minutes or until firm. Top with fun American flag toothpicks! I got mine from Party City. 🙂 Enjoy and cheers to 4th of July weekend!
