All-American BBQ Ribs

Published: Jun 24, 2016 by Laura Lee · This post may contain affiliate links · Leave a Comment

It's officially summer! And what doesn't say summer like barbecue ribs on the grill? My dad makes the best ribs in the world. And no that is not my opinion... that is a fact. I initially stole this recipe from him but through trial and error I finally landed on my own perfect homemade barbecue sauce to accompany them. So I present to you... All-American BBQ Ribs!

This barbecue sauce is sweet and sour and just a little smoky. It combines ketchup, apple cider vinegar, molasses, Worcestershire sauce, garlic powder, dry mustard, chili powder, and cayenne with good old-fashioned American Coca-Cola.

Bring all sauce ingredients to boil in a medium-sized saucepan over high heat. Stir, reduce heat to low, and simmer for 20 minutes. Continue to stir frequently. The sauce will thicken. Let cool.

Once your sauce is prepared, set aside.

Buy Country Pork Ribs for this recipe. No other ribs will work nearly as well. Bone-in or out is your preference, however I find bone-in to have more flavor. Trim off some of the fat. Bring water to boil in a very large saucepan. Add the ribs along with a sprinkle of salt and let boil for a couple of hours, turning every now and then. Towards the end of this time heat your grill. Remove the ribs from the pan and shake off excess water.

Place ribs in a large bowl or skillet. Brush with barbecue sauce on all sides, saving some for serving later. Grill for about 10 minutes flipping halfway through or until the ribs develop a nice char.

Feel free to brush grilled ribs with remaining sauce or serve it on the side for dipping. These are the most tender ribs EVER. Try the All-American BBQ Ribs out this weekend or for your 4th of July cookouts next weekend! I promise you they will be a hit! Happy summertime ya'll!
