Beer-Braised Hot Dogs with Braised Sauerkraut

Published: May 29, 2017 by Laura Lee · This post may contain affiliate links · 6 Comments

Memorial Day Weekend is for grilling out with friends and family. What is more American than hot dogs? Here is my super easy Beer-Braised Hot Dogs with Braised Sauerkraut recipe!

All you will need for the dogs are a can of beer and some sugar. Bring beer and sugar to a boil in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Turn down to simmer. Add dogs and cook until plump and a syrup coat forms over them, turning frequently. This will take about 8-10 minutes.

Remove from skillet and transfer dogs to the grill. Grill for about 5-8 minutes or until they have a nice grill sear.

Next, prepare your beer-braised sauerkraut. You will need sauerkraut, brown sugar and another can of beer.

Add all three ingredients to a skillet over medium-high heat. Add a little salt and pepper. Simmer for about 5 minutes, stirring frequently.

Remove dogs from grill and place in buns. I like to use freshly baked buns and also grill them so they have a nice crispy bite.

Drizzle dog with a little leftover beer syrup, top with sauerkraut, ketchup and spicy mustard. Hope everyone enjoys the rest of their holiday!
