Autumn Breeze

Published: Sep 30, 2016 by Laura Lee · This post may contain affiliate links · 1 Comment

My current situation: a crisp 60 degrees outside, snuggled up on my couch in an oversized hoodie and the world's most comfy blanket, a Bath & Body Works "Autumn" candle burning, Thursday night football on my TV, and this perfect cocktail in my hand which encompasses all the above. It's officially fall, and I could not be more happy about it. I had to kick off the season by, of course, creating a fall-inspired beverage. I call this the Autumn Breeze. Let me warn you now, it tastes so good you might forget there's actually alcohol in it. Drinks like this can be dangerous.

For the Autumn Breeze you will need rum, apple cider, cinnamon-clove infused simple syrup, and fresh lemon juice. Start by making your simple syrup. Bring water, cinnamon sticks, and whole cloves to boil in a small saucepan. Reduce heat and simmer for about 10 minutes. Remove cinnamon and cloves and add sugar, stirring until dissolved. Simmer for another 2-3 minutes. Remove from heat and let cool completely. Add rum, simple syrup, and lemon juice to a shaker with ice. Shake and dump into a glass. Top with apple cider. Garnish with ground cinnamon and a cinnamon stick. Cheers!
